The Storyteller: Isiah

“Everything Passion for Life prepared me for the lead-up to this moment. This is my first time traveling to another country. I love learning about the various aspects of filmmaking. I felt excited when my short film was chosen to be produced.” - Isiah

From an early age, Isiah knew he had a passion to write and create. What he lacked was the network and resources to transform his passion into a career.

“Passion for Life has given me and everyone the platform of meeting professionals aligned in our fields of interest… Passion For Life revealed an array of career opportunities, such as one-on-one projects with professionals in aspired fields, as well as listening to their personal and professional journeys,” explained Isiah.

By completing Passion for Life’s 4-I career immersion process, Isiah was able to:

  • Investigate career options that were aligned with his passion to write.
  • Immerse in transformative career experiences, such as participating in a career lab with actress Erika Coleman, where Isiah learned how to create his “Bible” to help him pitch movie concepts to potential funders.
  • Identify his preferred career passions, which include storytelling, film, podcasts, and writing.
  • Implement his actionable passion-oriented career plan, which led him to a film study abroad in Ireland.

The Politician: Marcus

“Trying new things and meeting more people has helped me take my confidence to the next level and made me the man I am today.” - Marcus

In high school, Marcus wanted to be a football player. That is, until he joined our Passion for Life program.  Now Marcus is a senior in university with ambitions of becoming a U.S. Senator!

“I liked being in Passion for Life because it gave me an opportunity to be seen and interact with professionals and to be heard,” said Marcus.

By completing Passion for Life’s 4-I career immersion process, Marcus was able to:

  • Investigate his career selection via our career lab activity, where we set up a mock political campaign, and Marcus served as a political consultant and prepped his student candidate for debate.
  • Immerse in transformative career experiences by first shadowing a political reporter with the AJC and then being “Mayor of the Week” for the City of South Fulton, shadowing Mayor Edwards.
  • Identify his career passions and discover that he had a passion for service and wanted to create policies that could help underserved communities thrive.
  • Implement his passion-oriented career plan that he developed with our Passion For Life career coaches.

Helping Others: Jaslynn

“I would have been completely behind if it wasn’t for Passion for Life.” - Jaslynn

Jaslynn knew she had a passion for dance.  When she started our program in 9th grade, Jaslynn was looking for ways to pursue a professional dance career and own a dance studio.

Working with our Passion for Life coaches, Jaslynn discovered her other passion - helping others. Passion for Life was “one of the best things I could have done in high school,” explained Jaslynn.

By completing Passion for Life’s 4-I career immersion process, Jaslynn was able to:

  • Investigate her career aspirations and connect them to her values and strengths through a process of self-discovery and exploration.
  • Immerse in career labs and dream-building tours, where her innate leadership skills began to shine through and her understanding of passion began to transform.
  • Identify and experience her “Ah-ha” moment. Between her junior and senior years of high school, Jaslynn noticed her vision board shifting away from dance and moving more toward her natural gift for counseling and helping others achieve their goals.
  • Implement her actionable passion-oriented career plan by pursuing (and achieving) a Bachelor of Social Work from Tennessee State University. Jaslynn is now a Youth Instructor at Agape Youth and Family Center, where she mentors 3rd-8th-grade students.
