Impact Story: Marcus

In high school, Marcus wanted to be a football player.  That is until he joined our Passion for Life program.  Now Marcus is a senior in university with ambitions of becoming a U.S. Senator!

“I liked being in Passion for Life because it gave me an opportunity to be seen and interact with professionals and to be heard,” said Marcus.

By completing Passion for Life’s 4-I career immersion process, Marcus was able to:

  • Identify his career passions and discover he had a passion for service and wanted to create policies that could help underserved communities thrive.
  • Investigate his career selection via our career lab activity where we set up a mock political campaign and Marcus served as a political consultant and prepped his student candidate for debate.
  • Immerse in transformative career experiences by first shadowing a political reporter with the AJC and then being “Mayor of the Week” for the City of South Fulton shadowing Mayor Edwards.
  • Implement his passion-oriented career plan that he developed with our Passion for Life career coaches.

“Trying new things and meeting more people has helped me take my confidence to the next level and made me the man I am today.” - Marcus
